Meet Timmy & Tia
A few weeks ago, proud CH-cat parent Libby reached out to me to share her story — and you can just tell how much she loves her two CHers! Here’s her story in her own words:
I adopted Tia and Timmy, moderate-to-severe CH siblings, from a foster home in NJ affiliated with PAWS, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society.
They are wonderful cats! I think they are about 18 months old.
They have a high-stepping front gait and their rear ends just waddle back and forth, like a fire truck with nobody steering the back. They fall over and backflip quite a bit. At first they could not manage the stairs and stayed on the second floor of our home, but now they are quite adept and go up and down the stairs all day.
We’re still figuring out a litter box solution (they have poor aim and often fall into the box and go while lying on their sides); other than that they are a joy!
They have head tremors that make them peck at their food like little chickens.
Timmy is very affectionate and loves to sit in my lap or with our big cat Dukie or with our dog Joe. Tia is a pistol; she hisses a lot and is quite excitable, but if you get her into your lap she starts purring right away. She’s a little butterball, so I feed them light food.
Timmy can jump; he hurls himself onto the sofa when I am sitting there; I have to watch out for his claws because he can land anywhere. Tia prefers to climb. They are in very good health.
Their backflips onto the floor used to worry us, but they just pick themselves up and go on playing. They even fell down the stairs a couple of times, but our stairs have rubber treads padded with felt, and thankfully they were OK.
People should understand that animals with a disability have no idea that there is anything different about them; they love to play and get along great with their able-bodied fellows. Even our big 18-lb cat, who can be aggressive at times, is great with them.
I can’t imagine why these cats are considered difficult to adopt; they’re adorable!

This photo of Timmy and Dukie reminds me of my CH cat Smudge and his best friend Timmy who is a large ginger cat. They have the same expression on their faces!
Definitely happy and contented cats.
