Meet Jello
I’m sure you all remember Andrea and her CH kitty Aiden Grace. Well, the other day I received a note from Andrea telling me about her kitten-sitting adventures for Jello, her mom’s foster CH cat!
From Andrea’s stories and videos, Jello sounds like quite a special, and spunky little guy!
Just imagine this – Andrea said her cats are rather large. Two are nearly 20 pounds, another is about 14, and Aiden weighs in at around 10.
Despite the weight and size difference, Andrea says Jello will go after them unabashedly!
“Jello is not easily intimidated and is pretty severe,” Andrea said. “He runs (or flops – whatever you want to call it) over to my cats and tries to put his paw up to smack them and inevitably falls over. My cats are pretty tolerant because of all the fostering I do so they don’t react much. I hate to say it but I can’t stop laughing when he falls over from smacking them.”
And that same personality of bravely concurring challenges doesn’t end there. Andrea says she has tried to accommodate his litter pan needs by putting out a special low-sided pan that he could use easily, as her other cats use litter boxes with very high sides.
Wouldn’t you know it? The little stinker decided he didn’t want to use the low-sided pan, he wanted to use the high-sided pan! He even won’t use a step Andrea put in front of it to aid him.
“He just throws himself face first into the box and throws himself face first out of the box,” Andrea said.
And the best part? Jello, who shouldn’t be able to do stairs, since he’s so severe, decided to prove them wrong on that front, too.
“My mom told me he can’t do steps the first time he came over, so I was thinking, ‘Good he can stay downstairs, and I won’t have to worry.’ My boyfriend and I were being very careful and putting him in a pop-up pen almost like a pack-n-play when we weren’t watching him. He was doing so well we left him out a few hours without watching – next thing we know he was upstairs. He went up 15 steps or so. Now we have to try to block it off – unbelievable!”
And that wasn’t the only time Andrea caught him trying the steps, which are carpeted. It sounds like he loves to climb steps as much as CG and Ellie!
“I have no idea what he is thinking,” Andrea said. “I caught him coming up them today, and he looks like a mountain climber. Slow and steady he puts on foot up and drags himself. He is so funny. When I catch him I take him down, but I am amazed at how he manages to sneak up there or how he manages to climb things.”
While this little one still hasn’t figured out how to climb onto the couch, Andrea says that he has mastered a larger goal: Her mother’s Christmas tree!
Andrea said her mother had a difficult time keeping Jello out of her tree, and a few times he’d get stuck in there!
What a special little cat Jello is! Thanks for sharing, Andrea!
