How Geronimo Touched Irene’s Heart: An Adoption Story
Like many of us, Irene was immediately interested in Geronimo when she saw him at Greyfoot Cat Adoptions at a Petsmart last February. While she didn’t take him home that day, he did touch her heart, and two weeks later she went back to adopt him.
Irene says that she and Geronimo, a one-year-old cat who has moderate cerebellar hypoplasia, got along right away. They’re such buddies, that Irene says her loving cat likes to follow her around the house.
Geronimo may have moderate CH, but like many of our cats, he doesn’t let that stop him.
“He walks, runs, and leaps around, but he stumbles and falls often or he crashes,” Irene says. “He is learning to climb up unto the bed with his claws. He is learning to climb a three-foot cat tree with his claws. He has not hurt himself even though he is very adventurous and daring.”
When he’s not having climbing adventures, Geronimo likes to play chase with his older brother cat Sweet Pea.
And while he may go my Geronimo, this handsome cat is also known by a nickname, too.
“We sometimes call him Ronnie or Opie, because he looks like Ron Howard,” Irene says.
