Create A Homemade Feeding Stall For Your Adult Cat

August 14, 2013

Adult Cat Feeding StallMore than a year ago I posted a great idea that Ellie’s foster mom came up with to help her sisters and her remain upright during mealtime: A homemade feeding stall.

I absolutely loved the creativity and concept behind it, and her device was absolutely perfect to hold up the three kittens. But what do you do once your cat grows up and still needs some support?

If you’re like Allison from the Facebook CH Cats and Kittens group, you let your ideas grow with your cat. She came up with a similar device that helps her foster cat remain upright while eating.

While I don’t know too much about her specific creation, I’m sure the idea behind it is the same: The narrow stall helps keep wobbly cats upright, so they can focus on what’s in front of them. It may not work for all cats who could use some extra support during mealtime, but you may want to consider it based on your cat’s needs and abilities.

Do you think your cat could use something like this? Would you replicate Allison’s idea, or would you use other materials and another design to accomplish something similar? Please share in the comments!

Hi Amanda, How funny, my husband and I were just talking about doing something like this as Mollie is trying to stand up while she eats but she can only stand alone for a few seconds. I have placed her between my legs while feeding to give her some support but I won’t always be there as she gets bigger. I was looking at a desktop mesh magazine file rack from Office Max (about $14.00)but I need to actually see it to make sure the dimensions are accurate and that it is heavy enough to suport Mollie.. It appears it would only need some padding on the sides to have it fit more like a glove. Furthermore when she outgrows it it can be recycled for its original use. Will let you know what I decide after I go see it in person.

Yes. I would definitely make something like this if I had a CH cat. This was a good idea.
